2018 Epogée

Tasting Notes

Epogee is a 100% Hunter blend; the titan in our white wine line-up. The colour shows bright straw green, with a deeper core of yellow. Bold aromatic signatures: powerful golden peach and ripe nectarine at its core, with musk, yellow jasmine, white honey and pear all combining with a rich perfumed harmony.

The palate is all about plushness, velvet depth and texture; Viognier (30%) delivers a luxurious layer of golden fruit silkiness. Finer waxy texture, pear and yellow fruit boldness are  signatures of Marsanne (30%) and significantly Roussanne (40%) delivers cashew-like creaminess to the finish. A beautiful and natural culmination of fruit umami and barrel fermentation.

Tasting Notes

A classic Semillon pure and fine, with bright green straw colour highlights. Aromas are zesty and intense, brimming with lemonade, lemongrass, ripe lime and soft orange grapefruit. Delicate floral hints of green-clover flower build nuanced complexity. The flavours are precise and detailed, showing primary juicy lemon brightness with satiny length, finishing with a slight pithy tang and crunchy, energetically fresh persistence.

There is a great cellaring future ahead. Beautiful harmony will begin to develop within 1-2 years, while 5 to 10 years will elevate this regal youngster into a classic Hunter Semillon.

2018 PERDIEM 'Recolo' Rosé

Recolo ( Verb - latin) : 'I remember'

This fresh, inviting Rosé is worth remembering. First, there are the aromas, like crushed raspberries and rosewater; the flavours that follow are racy blood orange zest, cherry, pomegranate and watermelon. To finish there's a bead of red-grape texture and crunchy pink lady apple, enough to remind you that you're drinking a crisp, dry Rosé. 

Pop in the fridge or ice bucket immediately and serve chilled. Drink tonight with good food and company.

2017 Hunter Valley Shiraz Viognier

Tasting Notes

Impressively deep colour, dense red/black, showing a vibrant crimson rim.

The nose is powerful with the commanding authority of black cherry Shiraz aromas (95%), as well as honeysuckle and floral perfumes of Viognier ( 5%). Deluxe French oak simmers softly in the background, contributing spicier accents of vanilla, cinnamon, and fine, bergamont-tinged black tea. Flavours are dense and smooth, with the magic of  Shiraz and Viognier co-fermentation; the black cherry and black raspberry core flavours are sublimely softened be chocolatey roundness, generating a plush unity of fruit and tannin. Fine oak provides gentle support throughout, a tightly packed foundation with lovely balance and depth.

This will be a vintage to remember, with stellar harvesting conditions and fruit condition, this Shiraz-Viognier already shows delightfully fresh expression and charm, appealing for immediate drinking or medium term cellaring.

2018 Hunter Valley Chardonnay

Tasting Notes

A fine bright colour showing exceptional green hue and freshness. Aromatically, the notes are vibrant with great fruit drive, white fig perfumes mix with nectarine, pineapple and yellow melon. Beautiful elements of deluxe French oak support and deepen the bouquet, with delicate vanilla spiciness adding warmth and softness.

The palate glides with the wonderful harmony of primary and malolactic barrel fermentation; the mouth feel is yoghurt-like and glossy, with superb texture and persistence. Melon and fig flavours predominate, yet nectarine and pineapple brightness provides lift and focus onto a long finish.

Food Match: Shellfish, poultry dishes, and soft cheeses.
